Adult Leader - Interchange | Fees
Information Regarding Fees and Estimated Program Costs
Fees and other program costs for the CISV Interchange Program are kept at a very reasonable level because CISV is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization. Costs are divided into three categories: (1) Participation Fees, (2) Travel Costs, and (3) Hosting/Incidental Expenses. Participation fees support the operation of the Local Jacksonville Chapter, program administration/communications through the National and International Associations of CISV, and travel insurance. Travel costs are estimated until actual costs are known. All hosting and incidental expenses are not included in this total cost estimate, but are described in order to provide a realistic overview of your financial commitment. These cost estimates include all known major expenses associated with the two-phase program. For leaders, most program costs (such as airfare and national/international fees) are paid by the families of the youth delegates, on a pro rata basis. There are, however, some expenses (Chapter dues and insurance) that are paid by the leaders.
Fees for the Interchange Program are payable in full at the time of selection into the program (approximately March 2010). The non-refundable $10 application fee (payable to CISV) is submitted with the application. Once you are selected and agree to participate, Participation Fees are non-refundable.
Application Fee $10.00 Interchange Program Fee $75.00 Total Fees $85.00
Travel Costs include the estimates of costs for travel. Travel costs are not applicable to the Interchange Delegation Leader, as the leader's travel costs are paid by the families of the youth delegates.

Hosting/Incidental Expenses In addition to known expense items, you will be responsible for paying costs associated with hosting your partner (leader from the other nation's delegation) for four weeks (food, entertainment, etc.). Your leader partner, however, is responsible for his/her own shopping money and incidental spending money for items such as film, stamps, postcards, etc.
You are encouraged to host your Interchange partner by continuing, insofar as possible, normal activities rather than arranging excessive or extraordinary entertainment. CISV is intended to be a cultural learning experience, not a travel program or non-stop tour.
When you travel in the second phase, you will provide your own spending money for gifts, souvenirs, etc. Spending money should not be excessive. The exact amount of spending money is determined by mutual agreement among families in each Interchange Delegation, and usually ranges from $300 to $400 maximum.
Honorarium For a 4 week/4 week Interchange, leaders will receive an honorarium of $1,000: $500 at time of travel and $500 at time of hosting. The honorarium for Interchanges of shorter duration will be less.
