Information About Fees and Estimated Program Costs

FEES BELOW ARE PROJECTED FEES FOR 2010 PROGRAMS. FEES FOR 2010 PROGRAMS WILL BE SET IN JANUARY 2010

FEES UPDATED JANUARY 25, 2010

Fees and other program costs for the CISV Village Program are kept at a reasonable level because CISV is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization. Costs are divided into three categories: (1) Village Program Participation Fee, (2) Traveling Expenses, and (3) Incidentals. The Participation Fee covers the operation of the local Chapter as well as program administration and communications through the National and International Associations of CISV. Traveling Expenses are estimated in order to provide a realistic overview of your total financial obligation. Incidentals are for miscellaneous items. The following cost estimates include all major known expenses associated with the Village program. Limited Scholarship assistance may be available based on need. More information regarding scholarships and eligibility is located at Chapter Information.

  • Participation Fee for the Village Program is payable in full at the time of selection into the program (March 2010). The non-refundable $25 application fee is submitted with the application. Participation Fees are non-refundable once you have been selected and committed to participate.

  • Travel Expenses include estimates of known costs for Junior Counselor travel. The cost estimates in the chart on the following page should cover all anticipated significant items that apply to a Junior Counselor

  • Incidentals are costs for miscellaneous items for which you will be responsible in preparation for travel. The following costs are not included in the total estimate:

    • Physical Examination - A required CISV form will be provided for a medical examination to be performed by a physician.

    • National Costume - You will select and prepare an appropriate national costume. In the past, our USA national costume has involved themes such as surfing, square dancing, or baseball, as just a few examples. There will be a National Night at the Village for you to represent the United States, at which time you may share skits, songs and/or dances that you have prepared prior to departure.

    • Spending Money - The amount of spending money you carry is based on good judgment. The Chapter generally recommends no more than $250. There will be a camp store selling stamps, cards and snacks as well as T-shirts. Usually a few sightseeing excursions and a shopping trip are planned for the Villagers. Junior Counselors typically have a free day, and participate in the leader's free weekend.

    • Adequate Camp Clothing - Appropriate clothing will be suggested in pre-camp correspondence from each Village. New, expensive clothing is not recommended, as everyone tends to trade clothing items with their new friends from other countries. Villagers and Junior Counselors spend most of their time in the Village participating in games, sports and craft activities.

    • Trading items - Small items to trade with other Villagers are usually taken. CISV shirts with the Jacksonville logo are hot items, along with key chains, coins, stamps, etc.

    • Passport - Those traveling to Villages in other countries will be required to have a passport. If needed, apply for a passport as soon as you have been selected.
