Summer Camp Fees
Children's International Summer Villages
Information Regarding Fees and Estimated Program Costs
Fees and other program costs for the CISV Summer Camp Program are kept at a reasonable level because CISV is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization. Costs are divided into three categories: (1) Summer Camp Participation Fees, (2) Preparation and Traveling Expenses, and (3) Incidentals. The Program Participation Fees cover the operation of the local Chapter as well as program administration and communications through the National and International Associations of CISV. Preparation and traveling expenses are estimated in order to provide a realistic overview of your total financial obligation. Incidentals are for miscellaneous items. These cost estimates include all known major expenses associated with the program. Limited scholarship/financial assistance may be available based on need.
This reflects the projected fees for 2010 programs. Fees for 2010 programs will be set in January 2010.
Fees updated as of January 22, 2010
-Participation Fees for the Summer Camp Program are payable in full at the time of selection into the program (approximately March 2010). The non-refundable $25 application fee is submitted with the application. Participation fees are non-refundable once your child has been selected and you have committed to participate.
Application Fee: $25.00
Summer Camp Participation Fee: $2,476.00
Includes:
- CISV Jacksonville Chapter Support
- Leadership Training
- CISV T-shirt
- CISV Family Membership in Chapter
- The $25 application fee is due with your application.
- The Participation Fee* of $2,476 is due at the first orientation meeting, in March 2010.
- In addition to the foregoing, four tickets to Extravaganza 2010, the Chapter's primary fundraising event, are included in the Participation Fee of $2476. The tickets are $150 each and entitle the holder to admission for two to the event and a chance at a $5,000 cash prize. We hope you will keep one ticket to join us at the Extravaganza and welcome you to sell the other three to friends, family or business associates.
- Payment for airline tickets, emergency money and your pro rata share of the leader's airfare is due as soon as the fare can be confirmed. Schedules and available fares are researched by the Chapter's designated travel agency in order to secure the cheapest, safest and most reliable transportation arrangements for which our delegations qualify. Airline tickets (except for the leader's portion) are paid with a credit card enabling you to "spread" part of the total program cost.
Total participation and application fees: $2501.00
Preparation/Traveling Expenses
include estimates of known costs for delegation preparation activities and travel, including the pro rata share of the delegation leader's travel (one-fourth). The cost estimates in the chart on the following page should cover all anticipated significant items that apply to each youth delegate.
Incidentals
are costs for miscellaneous items for which you will be responsible in preparation for the delegations travel. These costs are not included in the total estimate.
Physical Examination
- A required CISV form will be provided for a medical examination to be performed by a physician .
Spending Money
- The amount of spending money sent with the child is determined by each delegation. The Chapter generally recommends that no more than $100 be sent. There will be a camp store selling stamps, cards and snacks as well as T-shirts. Usually a few sightseeing excursions and a shopping trip are planned for the Summer Campers.
Adequate Camp Clothing
- Appropriate clothing will be suggested in pre-camp correspondence from each Summer Camp. New, expensive clothing is not recommended, as the children tend to trade clothing items with their new friends from other countries. Villagers spend most of their time in the Village participating in games, sports and craft activities.
Gifts
Host families: As part of the Summer Camp experience, the children will have one home stay with local families, one upon arrival at camp. A $5 to $10 gift such as a book about the USA or Florida is a nice exchange gift. The host families will most likely have a small gift for your child also.
Passports and Visas
- Those traveling to Summer Camp in other countries will be required to have a passport. Sometimes a visa is also required. Apply for a passport as soon as you have been selected.
