JB Super Update July 2008

Hello everyone!
We are Mackenzie Crane and Shannon Novakoski and we are the new Junior Branch Co-Presidents!
Shannon is a senior at Nease and Kenzie is a senior at Bishop Kenny. Kenzie has been involved in CISV since she was 11 and has attended two Villages, while Shannon has attended a Summer Camp and a Village as a JC. We both love being a part of Jacksonville’s fabulous JB!

This past year was full of new, exciting, successful activities and we are looking forward to keeping up the good work with our fantastic new board! We are thrilled to continue the tradition of a South Regional Mini-camp with the Atlanta, Chattanooga, Gulf Coast, and Smokey Mountain chapters. Also, this year we are hoping to incorporate more family activities since last year’s International Peace Day and Holiday Party were such hits. Plus, isn’t including new people what CISV is all about?

Our calendar of events will be posted soon. However, there are two dates that we do know for sure. First, is the famed South Regional Mini-camp which will be held in Atlanta the weekend of September 26-28. The theme is Children’s Rights and Robots. We South Presidents have been hard at work on it and it promises to be a great weekend. Second, is a new national event for 11-13 year-olds called Discovery. It will be held in Dallas, TX September 19-21. It will basically be a huge mini-camp with JBers from all over the summer. The theme is the Environment. Attending this event would be a fabulous experience especially since Kenzie is on the staff for it! Information regarding these two events will be mailed out soon.

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to those who have given so much to this organization and are now going off to college. Our immediate past-president, Ben Blackshear has graduated from Episcopal High School and is leaving for Middlebury in Vermont. Also, long-time CISVer Lizzie Lufrano has also graduated from Episcopal and will be attending UF this fall. These two have given so much of there time and talent to us and we are so grateful. We love you and are going to miss you a lot!
